The Shermans followed each one. It hadn't been as tough as thought. The only tanks ran into were Italian and they were no match for a Sherman. Some mortar fire was still falling but the weather had cleared so soon the 'Juggs' would be overhead and that would stop. Another few minutes and the Sherm in the lead took a hit as a Panther appeared. The narrow road now blocked. Before anyone could react on the Allied side the Panther fired at the trailing Sherm taking it out. Now 3 Sherms trapped between the 2 disabled and the Panther cut through them like a Hot knife through butter as American shells just bounced off the Panthers armor. With 5 Sherman tanks dead the Panther had had a Good Day and retreated out of sight as German/Italian Infantry showed up to make the Allies fall back until Airpower or Artillery could paste the area. This path would be blocked for awhile as somewhere out there lurked more than a Sherman could handle with SS Markings.
