LITANI RIVER

Date: June 8, 1941
Location: The Litani River gorge, between Tyre and Sidon, southern Lebanon.

Orders:
As part of the invasion of Vichy controlled Syria the Australian 21st Brigade will advance up the coast road towards Beirut. Between Tyre and Sidon is a major obstacle - the Litani River gorge, which is crossed by the Qasimye Bridge (plus there is a smaller bridge known as the Kafr Badda Bridge, crossing a stream to the north, that should be secured).

Intel:
The Vichy forces are aware of your landings, so do not expect surprise; initial recon suggests enemy strength to be much higher than expected. Artillery and armoured units are known to be in the area. You will have to at least hold your positions until the Australians arrive since your men cannot be taken off the beaches.
