BRILLIANT VICTORY

Although the Ijssel Bridge at Zutphen has been blown up, Bruckepioniere of the Heer have been able to contruct a new bridge. The Dutch have fought valiantly but the strenght of the German Wehrmacht cannot be compared to the Dutch Army. As we speak our units are pouring into the Netherlands.

AFTERMATH: The German attack on the Netherlands consisted of an huge airborne operation (only the airborne attack on Crete was a larger German airborne operation during World War II), supported by an advance from the German-Dutch border on three axis'. After four days of ferocious fighting, the Germans bombard the city of Rotterdam and becomes another example of the atrocities of those times, being the next victim on the list after Guernica and Warsaw; London, Coventry, Belgrade would be other examples later on in the war. Besides the pressure on the Dutch Army is taking its toll after four days. On 15 May 1940 the Dutch Army in the Netherlands surrenders.
