Italian Airfield 25 Commander 'Pisi. It is over now. The Allies have decimated our Air Force, few planes have returned and those that did were shot to pieces. We expect at any moment the enemy Fighters and Bombers will attack the field. Our AA crews are ready but without any competition in the Air we are done for. I have ordered non-essential staff to leave. We will shortly set alight to the Fuel and ammunition it will be of no further value to us and we cannot let it fall into the enemies hands. This morning seemed a beautiful day for us but the Allied flyers have turned it into the worst day of My life as well as those of the Men. Confident we were of a 'Good Show' but it was not to be. Tanks have been reported coming our way and not just a few, Hundreds I have heard. As in other places it seems the Allies have a limitless supply of everything. Again this morning we were in good shape with supplies but they were on the ships out in the harbor, those ships will not be giving up the supplies since they have all been sunk or are burning. I have been ordered back to Rome in a few days so don't imagine I will be commanding anyone much longer. Now the thought to fight here awhile, give it my all for the 'Glory of Caesar' then either return to be stripped of Command or head out hoping I am not found. I am leaning towards the later.
