May 14th,1943 Tunis. The Allies lodgement was secure and supplies were piling up for the Invasion of Sicily. The bombing of Berlin by the 8th had Hitler fuming and Goering losing faith in the 'Eyes of His Fuehrer' had to do something about it. All across Russia activities in the Air were curtailed and planes sent back West while a Luftwaffe Umbrealla gave the Allies all they could handle off Sicily. The Italian Air Regalia mustered up all the 'Flyboys' it could to join in the mission termed 'Berlin Payback'. In London of course set fields of Fighter after Fighter the Allied Commanders positive the Nazi's would strike there. The French Underground had reported planes flying overhead all day long for a week or so,when weather permitted. So the Allies waited in London for the attack which never was coming. The attack would be at Tunis. And the Undergounds reports, those planes in the Air of France were flying Circles.
