December 22nd The German attack had achieived a Good start and had the Yanks on the Run. Command though was beginning to get things in order, troops fleeing were stopped and brought back into reality. Though many units were spread all over the place Guys with Stripes started to form ad hoc groups with what they could gather. 6th Armor along with the Brits 21st was now in place to aid and show the Germans their folly, they would not gain the upperhand over rested experienced troops as they had over the new recruits and veterans who had been in the area to rest. The weather of course was a problem limiting the planes but they were there on the runways ready to go at the first break. German Commanders were starting to see they were handicapped by their supplies and few Yank depots had been captured intact. In the plan for German Victory they had to have more than a few. Yanks saw to it they did not. The Germans also needed to move fast and Yanks fell trees all over the roadways slowing Hitlers troops to a crawl.
