Commander, I have been wondering how we could improve our training even further as the storms of war threaten Europe. The Pentagon is concerned that we're training too many of our men with broomsticks. The British are also concerned about the preparedness of their land forces.

In this excercise, I am having you command the American forces. Gen. Bernard Montgomery will be leading the BEF forces. We have selected this area not because of any real similarity to any expected battlefields in Europe, but rather because it is different and we wanted to throw some variables into the mix. We found that ideal battlefield conditions lead to grave overestimatations of our own capabilities, and we don't want that.

You need to "hold" position. The British will try to assault from across the Savannah River to the north and also from the sea. Their units will be mostly from 5th Armor Division, 22nd Infantry Division, 8th Infantry Division and 14th Infantry Division.

You don't have to worry about aircraft, but I have given you some AA just so your men won't forget to keep looking up into the sky. Their tanks are fast and agile, but not heavily armed. But we really don't have any armor at all, so I have given you some anti-tank units.

Do well, and make me proud.
