Normandy, 1946

Your defeat of the Coalition Army at Sedan was superb. It's hard to believe that what the Germans did just six years ago, we were able to repeat but with so much more force.

French Communist partisans, no doubt slighted by De Gaulle and our other former "friends", have risen up and are causing many problems in Paris. But I am ordering you to ignore the uprising in Paris. Konev will move along the Strasbourg to Paris axis until he takes that city with the help of the French Communists.

I have entrusted you with a more important task. I understand the Americans have sailed directly from their East Coast ports, and the Brits are sailing south from Portsmouth, and may already have landed. If only we had a navy capable of doing battle. But I have you, and that is worth more than the entire Soviet Navy ever was.

Strike North and West against the French who have entrenched in St. Lo. Finish the race across the rest of Normandy to defeat the Americans and British before they can make their way too far in land. If you beat them and push them back into the sea, we will end this war once and for all.

Be careful. The French are weak, but they have captured some very interesting German equipment. The Americans and the British did the same, and have actually reconstituted some German units, albeit in rather fragmented state. I think that between your intuitive sense of tactics and our preponderance in numbers, the Red Army will triumph.
