I have been wondering how we could improve our training even further as the storms of war roll across Europe and Asia. As a result, I have been begging the Pentagon for further funding of training excercises.

In this excercise, I am having you command the "American" forces. Gen. George Patton will be training the "Japanese" forces. While we don't know for sure how good the Japanese forcews are, we have made every attempt to simulate the Japanese forces based on what we know about their military.

Major Bellingrath brought to my attention the other day that the Japanese may wish to strike at Alaska if we are ever in a shooting war. And since there aren't too many people to disturb, we have decided on using Anchorage and the Kenai Penninsula as a setting. Your objective will be relatively easy: defend Anchorage at all costs. You will establish a defensive perimeter. Hold it no matter what. And when you can, go on the offensive and break out of the perimeter.

I have staked my reputation and yours on the line. While this isn't a life fire excercise, you will still lose any units that are "killed".

Do your best and godspeed.
