Operation "Hannibal"
April 26, 1941r.

On April 20, at the Hitler headquarters in Austria, Gen. Student presented a plan of landing on Crete, believing that it should be a complement to the Balkan campaign. Acquiring the island would be a step towards gaining control of the Aegean Sea, closing the road towards the Dardanelles and finally capturing the Suez Canal and Cyprus. Because of the superiority of the English fleet, this task had to be carried out using an airborne command. During the meeting, it was also decided to cut off British-Greek forces from the ports of the Peloponnese, occupying the bridge on the Corinth Canal.

Operational tasks:
Parachute dump is to bridge the Corinth Canal in Isthimia, Korinthos, Leheo, and secure the airport near Loutraki.
