New York Times, July 10, 2011:

(Seoul, Washington, inf.) According to military sources, a large group of middle-level commanders of the People's Army of Korea refused to continue to execute the Phenian orders and, after crossing to the south, voluntarily surrendered to the Coalition.
This has seriously limited the operational capabilities of the North. Although border fighting continues, their intensity has dropped significantly. After breaking down the main forces of the enemy, the coalition forces are closing down the single resistance jacks, but the immediate threat to the safety of the North Korean capital has been resolved.
