Report of the G-2 Division for SHAEF - July 7, 1945
Attn: Commander of the 4th US Army Corps

The Berlin garrison is a unit of the 47th Soviet Army - mainly infantry battalions, mortars and ckm with a small number of guns. Artillery units remain in positions below the city and it does not appear that the Russians were able to bring them to the city - most of the means of transport, in June, were detached to the occupation forces in other parts of Germany. The real threat is the experienced and mobile 3 Armored Panzer Army, south of the city, and the air force of the 16th Air Force of the USSR. The quantity and quality of Russian downloadable meals from the north - is difficult to estimate. It will depend on the progress of the British.

The morale and experience of Soviet soldiers is very diverse, but with the presence of NKVD units, defense should be counted at all costs.
