At the beginning of July, the situation under Caen seemed stable. Counterattack attempt with I and II SS Corps failed. Artillery fire and air raids took Jabos on a daily basis, the German divisions bled. On the other hand, the Allies, despite their superiority, could not occupy the whole city. The only "success" was the occupation of the western part of Caen, a small foothold in the Odon Valley, and Tourmeauville and Baron. On the road Tommies stands the nameless hill: hill 112. The first fight was not very fierce and the soldiers who fought on it, soon will give him the name of Mount Calvary. The most vicious fighting in Normandy was about to unfold.

"General,
The situation around Caen seems stable: On July 7, the 12th SS soldiers left the western part of the city, but in our hands there are crossing the Orne and Odon rivers. Soon the promised supplements will arrive and the 1st Armored Corps SS will regroup for another counterattack.

Operational tasks:
- The eastern part of Caen secures 1SSLSAH, the 16th Luftwaffe Field Division and the 21st Panzer Division.
- 12SS Hitlerjugend secures the hill 112.
- 9s Hohenstaufen will hit Gavrus and secure a crossing on the Odon River.
- 10SS Frundsberg secures the west wing from Villers-Bocage.

Field Marshal Erwin Rommel "
