Gospodin General-Leitenant, trench warfare is a new way of waging war, and you have yet much to learn of these methods. New weapons and tactics are necessary to break through the enemy's front lines, and retaining the units' cohesion following the breakthrough is necessary to withstand the inevitable counter-attacks.

New uses of existing weapons - such as amassing large-caliber artillery for preliminary barrages and new weapons altogether - such as the use of poison gas, first used by the Germans at Bolimov on January 31, 1915 as a prelude to the Masurian Offensive, have emerged to break trench networks.
